Friends and Family,
As many of you are aware of, today begins my 5 month excursion in new Zealand and Australia. After a wonderful weekend spent with some of my favorite people at a surprise going away party, I have finally packed up my life and put it in a suitcase (which ended up weighing only 43 lbs! never though that would happen) which I will be living out of until June. thanks to my roommates who drove from st Joseph, my parents, and micole for planning the party and keeping me occupied for the day :) also, thank you to everyone else who came-- I couldn't imagine spending my last weekend home any better way :)
As i write this I am currently in route to Omaha with my parents where they will send me off early tomorrow morning. I should arrive in LA around noon, and wait for my partners in crime (perhaps not the best choice of words to refer to a group of men I'm traveling across the world with, but oh well) Michael, Gavin, and Matthew to meet me before we hop on our 14 hour flight to Queenstown, New Zealand. Many of you may cringe at the thought of a 14 hour flight, but with the guys I'm traveling with I am positive there wont be a dull moment. I can't wait to tell you all about the shenanigans we pulled off.
Someone once told me that the best way to find out who you truly are is to step out of your comfort zone. Well, being in the sunshine, living next to the ocean, and being with some of my best friends In what may be the most beautiful place on earth isn't too intimidating to me yet, but I look forward to all the new experiences ahead of me that will take me out of my 'Midwestern comfort zone'. That said, on top of the bunjee jumping, sky diving, scuba diving, mountain climbing, beach bumming, pub crawling, and all other adventures planned, I am most excited about getting to know the others in my group, meeting some new friends, and learning more about myself and growing into the person I want to be. I feel so fortunate and lucky to have this amazing once in a lifetime experience.
Alright, enough of the cheesy stuff.

Some motherly advice........if you double the c temp, then add 30, you will have a number close to the f temp and know whether or not you need to wear a coat. Okay, so it is summer there, but one can always use a little motherly advice.
ReplyDeleteMiss you much already...love you.
